As a member of the Association of Certified College Funding Specialists, John works with parents, grandparents and guardians of 7th-12th grade college-bound students. He can and will work with families of younger students; however, the earlier preparations begin, the better. He is dedicated to ensuring that those who engage his services will have a plan that addresses funding for college without adversely impacting current lifestyle or future retirement.

As John serves his college planning clients, almost all of whom are servicing debt (credit cards, mortgages, student loans, auto loans, etc.), his passion has extended to assisting individuals and families in eliminating their debt with a proven process that typically results in freedom from creditors in 9 years or less (3 or less for commercial debt; just a bit longer for mortgages and student loans). As a result, College Planning Strategies, Inc., is a Preferred Partner with Vivensure.

Most recently, as a result of the pandemic and its devastating impact on small- to medium-sized businesses, an impact that extended to both college planning and debt elimination, John's passion has extended to assisting those business owners in building business credit in order to truly protect their personal property and assets should unforeseen events arise that threaten not only the business, but their personal financial security. Bolstering their personal financial security frees them to utilize services provided through Vivensure and College Planning Strategies, Inc. As a result, John is involved with J. Galt Finance Suite. 

John is a licensed attorney (albeit "reformed"), inactive but in good standing, with 18 years of experience in the employee benefits field, most recently advising employers on their consumer-directed healthcare benefits and collaborating with insurance brokers and agents in developing employer-sponsored benefit programs. In addition to consulting, he has drafted both retirement plans and cafeteria plans, dealt with the IRS in audit situations, filed for and obtained private letter rulings and determination letters from the IRS, and educated clients and their employees on how legislation impacted their benefit programs, both retirement and health care.

In his "free" time, John enjoys attending the athletic events in which his children participate: Professional Women's Volleyball (upcoming season in Finland), Division I baseball at Brown University and, currently, Belmont University (Providence, RI and Nashville, TN, respectively), and Division I Women's Volleyball at Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA). When not criss-crossing the country or "crossing the pond," he and his wife, Martha, relax by the pool with a good book or hang with friends at whatever venue is the choice of the day.
