Outreach Opportunity - Anna's House
THANK YOU SCBP VOLUNTEERS FOR YOUR HELP AT ANNA'S HOUSE - AUGUST 10TH:
Thank you to those who helped provide, prepare and serve dinner to the neighbors of Anna's House.
We had a "super crew" assembled that grilled hamburger and hotdogs, prepared side dishes, took care of drinks and dessert and then took dinner orders and served them. Most importantly though the volunteers took the time to visit with the very nice neighbors of Anna's House!
Thank you to Mrs. Julie Molloy for providing us with the opportunity to serve and who shows us by example how to give love, hope and compassion to others.
Thanks again!! Rose Springman

“I enjoyed the format at our last morning breakfast meeting. I learned how valuable "Office 360" could be for our office and know we need to take more advantage of their services but I also had time to meet and discuss some business with a new contact. We will be meeting in the future to work together on a project and before the meeting I wasn't aware of the connections we had. Good productive morning and well worth the time. Keep it up.
- Gary Armbruster, Roncalli High School
“The new venue is terrific. It is more intimate and warmer than the K of C. The room allows for everyone to hear others better and is much more conducive for networking. I like the idea of meeting at 7:30 better too. The continental breakfast was plentiful and fresh.”
- Barb Brinkman, Catholic Radio
“I liked it. We focused on networking without abandoning our Catholicism. And you served donuts! How does it get any better than that?”

Congratulations to Maggie Doyle, SCBP Member of the Week.
Maggie grew up on the Southside of Indianapolis and always knew she wanted to own a business someday. She attended Ball State University where she received her bachelors in Business Communication. She then attended the Aveda Fredric’s Institute of Indianapolis to obtain her cosmetology license.
She is opening a salon of her own on the Southside of Indianapolis starting April 1, 2015 and is looking to bring a new type of customer service to the hair industry. Her salon will focus on giving the client an exceptional experience while also taking care of their hair needs.
She’s so excited to be a part of a group like SCBP because it is a way to network with other business professionals who also have a strong faith. She attended OLG and Roncalli and is now a part of St. Roch parish.

Inspirational Insights 2015
March 12, 2015 from 8:30 - 11:00 at the Colts Complex
Featured Speakers are Lori Borgman and Danny O'Malia
Honoring our Catholic Person of the Year, Daniel J. Elsener
Lori Borgman is a syndicated newspaper columnist distributed to more than 400 media outlets in the U.S. and Canada. She is the author of six books and the popular essay “The Obituary for Common Sense,” which has gone viral, having been published in eight countries and translated into four languages. Lori offers wit and insight on family and culture and has been described as, “Mark Twain without the cigar.” A frequent speaker for lecture series, fundraisers, faith-based groups, corporate and civic groups, Lori counts two of her greatest privileges to include addressing a Spouses of Congress event at the Capitol and delivering the commencement address to college graduates at the Indiana Women's Prison. Lori and her husband live in Indianapolis and attend Zionsville Fellowship. After enjoying a brief season of life as empty nesters, they now find their house often full and extremely noisy when their three grown and married children, and seven grandchildren under the age of five, return home for visits.

Danny O’Malia has spent a lifetime in and around the retail grocery business. He began learning about Customer Service from the master, his late father Joe O’Malia, at the age of 8, when Joe owned a small grocery store in Broad Ripple that actually failed. Later he worked part time for his dad at Preston’s at 71st and Keystone and, starting in 1966, at O’Malia’s.
Danny left a 6-year career as a junior high and High School English teacher in 1975 to join the family business at O’Malia’s full time. Joe O'Malia was 55 years old by then and looking to slow down a bit. So Danny became involved in many aspects of the business gradually. Everything he learned had CUSTOMER SERVICE woven into it. From handling complaints to writing ads designed to explain how O’Malia’s differed from “the big boys,” SERVICE-- and how to motivate employees to give it-- was always Danny’s clarion call. Danny served as President of O’Malia’s from 1986 through 2006, the last 5 years as part of Marsh Supermarkets. He brought this lifetime of customer service experience to Trustpointe in 2007 to spread the gospel of building a Culture of Service to as many companies as possible. In 2009, he has added keynote speaking to his customer service training programs and started his own company, Indy’s Trusted Servant. |
Daniel J. Elsener became president of Marian College, now Marian University, on August 1, 2001. Under his leadership, the university continues to elevate its status as a well-respected institution of higher learning – celebrating record-high enrollment, innovative academic programming, new and improved campus facilities, and increased partnerships within the community.
Previously, President Elsener served as the executive director of the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation. Prior positions held also include executive director for the Office of Catholic Education and executive director for the Office of Stewardship and Development for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas. President Elsener holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Nebraska. Currently, he serves as member and secretary of the Indiana State Board of Education, The Governor’s Education Roundtable, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, IndyChamber Board of Directors, Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities, Vice Chairman of St.Vincent Health Board of Directors, Indianapolis Power & Light Company Advisory Board, The Indiana Academy, Council of Presidents for the Crossroads League, Independent Colleges of Indiana Board, Center for Leadership Development Board of Directors, United Way Tocqueville Society Council, Chair of American Heart Association’s 2014 Heart of Gold Ball and School Choice Indiana. Dan and his wife, Beth, find great joy in their family, church community, civic activities, and serving at Marian University. |

Quote from Joe's E-mail "Which is, without a doubt, the most memorable demonstration of a paraliturgical ritual I ever expect to see in a Catholic Church. The "smokebelcher" is nearly 5 feet tall, weighs 175 pounds, and travels at 45 miles per hour at its top speed. And yes - the inceneser has become detached from the rope in the middle of a ceremony a time for two over the centuries. No one has been killed. The Holy Spirit must surely be in control."

SCBP Canoe Trip - July 26th, 10:30 at Clements Canoes
Thank you to Rick and Cathy Myers for putting together one of our most unique SCBP Socials.
Following is the trip I recommend. It is very important to remember the level of the water can determine if it is even possible to do this. It is suggested we wait until 7-10 days prior before we set the reservation due to watching the weather as our payment is nonrefundable. We have to pay the full amount upon reservation. What I need is for those who wish to attend send a payment ahead. I will reserve the canoes on my credit card. However I will only reserve canoes for those who have made a payment. If you wish to join after July 17th for the July 26th date, please reserve the canoe on your own. You also must realize there may or may not be a canoe available at the given time of our departure. However a second group could depart at the next time and either catch up or have a great time on their own.
We will set the departure time July 26th,10:30 am This is a four hour trip. Plan to pack lunch and we will tail gate breakfast before we depart. So all those interested please send me an email expressing interest by July 17th and mail a check to Cathy Myers 425 Verwood Ct Indpls IN 46234 $40 and if we get more than 5 canoes I will refund the $5 as the price drops if we have 6 or more.
We will be using Clements Canoe rental. Please take a look at their site for directions and any other questions you may have.

Joe is a recreational cyclist who has a great interest in technology and gadgets. He thanks God for each day of my life and for his opportunities.
Our business designs custom software to assist with automating workflows, integrating services, and analyzing data. We focus on small to medium sized businesses to help them manage their data and understand it in a meaningful way. My primary responsibilities are to meet with clients, determine the correct solution for them, design, implement, test, and deliver the final product.
I recently attended an event and saw a few familiar faces and made some new connections. I'm eager to be a part of an organization that values faith as well as strong business values. As a member, I hope to bring some fresh ideas to the group and encourage fellow peers of my age to join as well.
